How to Make the Most of Dubai Shopping Festival

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to go to the Dubai Shopping Festival? Well, it can be an amazing experience for children and adults alike. It isn’t just a regular shopping fiesta or annual sale, it really is a full experience which includes shopping, tasty food, live entertainment, lucky draws and quality family time. You will also an opportunity to enjoy bright fireworks at night. And if you are visiting Dubai this winter, then make sure that you take this opportunity to explore all the popular malls. We learnt some useful tips on our last visit which can help make your DSF experience easier and more fun!

The Dubai Shopping festival is again coming back this year from December 4 to January 17, 2027. And I am here to share my experience. Last time we went with my family and explore different places inside the Dubai Shopping Festival including malls, Global Village, and other. Some things we did right and some we did wrong. So, I am sharing my experience here that will help you to make the most of from DSF:

Dubai Shopping Festival

  1. Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates

We went Dubai Mall in DSF with wife and kids. Name itself is shopping festival so obviously we went for shopping only, fashion stores, footwear and few electronics shops. Some shops had really good discount. But one thing we learnt, not every sale is real bargain. Same item in other shop was little cheaper also, so compare before you buy.

The mall was packed with crowds in the evening. The weekend equally had the same crowd rush. We struggled a lot to find a good parking spot on the day we visited. Weekdays are the best time in my opinion. Better to reach early as soon as the mall opens. Prepare a list of the items that you have been planning to buy for a very long time. Otherwise, you will end up wasting money on all the things that you don’t need. We did this mistake! Another thing you can do is check the daily DSF offers online before visiting.

  1. Global Village

We went Global Village in DSF time and kids loved it. Best part was going country to country and trying each country street food. Indian and Turkish pavilion was really good, for products and for food both. One suggestion, make sure to get your Global Village Dubai tickets in advance, if possible online to avoid waiting at the ticket counter.

Evening is very crowded so I would recommend to visit early. First check the show timings at Global Village before you leave your hotel. And don’t rush through the evening. We visited and left in a hurry and regretted our decision later. The shows were so amazing that even one evening feels too short. You can try bargaining in some stalls. Better first check price in 2 to 3 stalls.

  1. Fireworks and Shows

We watched fireworks at Dubai Festival City. Place was over crowded. We reached late first time and could not get good spot, so next time we went one hour before and it was much better.

Take Metro if you can, or park little far and walk. After show the traffic is very heavy, we were stuck almost 40 minutes. And check DSF schedule before going, timing and place keeps changing every season. This season full program will come out in November.

  1. Gold Souk and Spice Souk

Took my family to explore the popular Gold and Spice souks of Dubai. It is by far the best spot if you really want to know what Old Dubai looks like. My kids surprisingly fell in love with the place. The fragrance of local spices and the colourful shops add a very unique energy to this part of Dubai. Of course, you won’t find tall buildings, but the ambience is incredible. We bought some spices, souvenirs and even visited many gold shops. A very famous activity here is the peaceful Abra ride. The activity is very cheap and my little ones loved the ride.

For souvenirs bargaining works. Gold is different, price is as per daily gold rate, so what changes is making charge. Ask making charge in every shop, it was different in each one. And if any shop says DSF gold raffle or offer, check the official terms first.

  1. Family Fun

My kids loved the entertainment shows at the mall and Global Village. But what they enjoyed the most was the fireworks show. My wife and I had a great time with the retail therapy, my little ones were focused on the shows and lights all the time.

  1. Plan Your Days

We really had an amazing time in Dubai at the shopping festival. But we made some mistakes. The first one is that we included every activity in one day. Shopping in the morning. Global Village with the kids in the evening and fireworks shows at night. By the end of the day, none of us had the energy to even sit down and talk for a minute. The whole day we rushed and went from one place to another. Better avoid this when travelling with kids. Keep one day for shopping and the next day for outdoor events.

Malls on weekdays, evening shows reach early, and fix one budget before you start. And check DSF calendar in advance, its updated on official website, that will help to plan better.
